Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur 2025
Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur (FOKL) places community at the heart of its mission. A standout feature of the festival is its commitment to youth engagement—offering aspiring young musicians the rare opportunity to participate in a workshop with the world-renowned Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Other learning and performing opportunities include open workshops with Outreach Youth Band, Marktoberdorft Youth Wind Orchestra (Germany), and Siam Sinfonietta (Thai).
FOKL embraces the rich cultural diversity in southeast Asia by incorporating ethnic and traditional instruments into orchestral performances – such as those by the China Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Sadhana 2025 – creating a truly cross-cultural orchestral experience. Equally remarkable, FOKL includes performances that present orchestral repertoire that is uniquely ASEAN - such as those Filipino programs by UST Symphony Orchestra, and Indonesian programs by Yogyakarta Royal Orchestra.
FOKL champions inclusivity by reserving dedicated seating at key performances for differently abled individuals, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the magic of a live orchestra performance. In addition, the Clap & Tap Society performs with renowned Croatian singers Barbara Suhodolčan Vrbički and Jacques Houdek raising funds for Malaysian Association for the Blind.
