ProMuzika

ProMusika was set up by Lam Sui Chong, composer, and Chin San Sooi, writer, in 18th January 2024 primarily to stage Solace of Papan. Its rehearsal space in 73 1A , Jalan Taman Tan Yew Lai is used every Wednesday from 6-10.30pm and Sunday from 3-6pm for rehearsals since October 2023 with breaks for the Christmas and Chinese New Year seasons. This is not the first or last original opera in the country. We hope that it will be the bed rock of opera and musicals in the country. Already, a second opera inspired by Gunung Puteri Ladang awaits music to be composed. Meanwhile, we hope that Solace of Papan would hit the interna(onal trail. We have a list of musicals on board. We have two young ladies puUng the music to the lyrics to Lady White penned by me for a possibility of a 2025 staging during the year of the snake.

Our hope is that young writers and composers would be inspired to create original operas and musicals from our country’s rich heritage of legends, living or dead.
