Melvin Santana Anthony Taewishai

Melvin Santana Anthony Taewishai is a multidisciplinary artist whose Indian–Thai heritage deeply informs his work as both a theatre artist and dancer.

He began his theatre journey at the age of 18 under the mentorship of Master Ravi Shanker Rama Murthy at Asthana Arts, where he developed a strong foundation in both acting and dance. Since then, he has brought compelling characters to life in productions such as Naduvan (Seasons 1 & 2), Silappathikaram, Salim–Anarkali, and Dasamahavidya, each role enriching his instinctive and expressive performance style.

Trained in classical Odissi under Guru Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, Melvin seamlessly blends discipline with vulnerability, delivering performances that embody both spiritual depth and physical intensity. His versatility is further reflected in contemporary works such as Jananam 5.0 and Marupadiyum Karma (Seasons 1 & 2), under the direction of Anil Singh and S.T. Bala respectively—highlighting his commitment to bridging tradition with modern expression.

His recent dance production, Radhe! Radhe! — The Sweet Surrender, created in collaboration with the Sutra Foundation, exemplifies his pursuit of innovative and soulful artistry. Beyond the stage, Melvin has also collaborated with Zenith Music Productions on an upcoming music video filmed entirely in Sabah, set for release soon.
