關於
Just before the Spanish Civil War broke out, celebrated Spanish poet and playwright Frederico Garcia Lorca completed his last work “La casa de Bernarda Alba” (The House of Bernarda Alba).
The play centres on a matriarch called Bernarda who holds a gripping control over her five daughters and enforces an eight-year mourning period after the death of her second husband. Based on a true story of the playwright’s neighbours, the house has now been turned into a museum. It continues to be a cherished piece of work and has been adapted for film and TV as well as turned into a musical by Michael John LaChiusa which Christopher Ling directed in 2010 for klpac.
16 years later, Ling revisits this work with an all-male cast in a localised version by Yusof Bakar, set on an isolated fishing village in the 1970s. Audiences are invited to witness how the tension builds up when Malik instructs his sons to mourn for 100 days.
Advisory: The show contains mature content. Haze effects will be used during the performance.
