Renowned for their exceptional musicality and commitment to artistic excellence, The Asia Pacific Youth Choir is a unique and innovative choral ensemble that brings together talented young singers from the Asia Pacific region. With an age range of 18 to 28 years, this diverse group of singers represents a wide range of cultures, languages and musical traditions, creating a rich tapestry of harmonies, choral tone and choral performance expression.&nbsp;

This year, the 32-piece choir makes its debut performance in Penang at George Town Festival 2023 under the leadership of Chi Hoe Mak (Malaysia) and Tracy Wong (Malaysia/Canada).&nbsp;

We&rsquo;re all spending more time alone in our bedroom for the past year, more than any other time in our lives. It&rsquo;s a strange period of isolation and stagnation happening around the world. How do we deal with this crisis? How can we feel free in our hearts and minds when we are imprisoned in our own homes? How can the arts mend our sufferings when it is under the same constraints? 
 
For those who&rsquo;ve had their curiosities piqued, Out of the Blue Theatre invites you to discover a whole new imaginative universe within your bedroom in &ldquo;IMAGINARIUM&rdquo;, an audio-immersive theatrical experience. In this entertaining and cathartic audio-immersive experience, &ldquo;IMAGINARIUM&rdquo; acknowledges the limitations lockdowns have imposed on the theatre industry and people&rsquo;s lives. So escape the confines of your space and follow us into the impossible. It is time to step out of your comfort zone and break out of the ordinary. Welcome to the &ldquo;IMAGINARIUM&rdquo;!

创作于全球疫情和剧院关闭时期，互动式，&ldquo;身临其境&rdquo;声音作品《想象场》让观众能够在自己的卧室中体验空间的无限可能。在58分钟的过程中，《想象场》将卧室空间转变成了新的剧场，让人们去探索、玩耍，使得我们在物理限制中得以通过想象力寻找自由，在隔离的条件下重新建立人与人、人与世界的联系。这部沉浸式的声音戏剧体验中，发现小小卧室内的全新世界。

IMAGINARIUM 想象场

G-Short is a short film festival held as part of the George Town Festival 2021 to celebrate the endless imagination and possibilities a 90-second short film can bring about. Themed &ldquo;Reimagine: A New Way of Seeing&rdquo;, with the tagline &ldquo;Short Yet Powerful&rdquo;, G-Short was conceived to encourage the local and international film communities to create short-form and original films, unleashing their creativity, originality and innovation to tell stories in new ways &ndash; all while strengthening the branding of the George Town Festival. The film screenings feature the works of 30 finalists from different countries.

Drawing upon the associations between people, culture and place, and relating it to the concept of a hot pot cuisine, &ldquo;Down the Melting Pot&rdquo; will bring audiences into an intercultural journey through the perspectives of young contemporary artists, whom in particular, often welcome the possibilities of forging memories, empathy and meaning with the cultural constructs of a place as they spark the inspirations and impulses to create. With a varied selection of moving images from around the world, including experimental shorts, video art, animation and performance art, the exhibition will highlight the myriad of sensibilities, cogitation and imagination made possible with intercultural exchange between people and people, and between people and place. The diverse works will each express a unique commentary about an individual or a collective issue as inspired by the cultural experience in a specific setting &ndash; ranging from the spread of popular media, consumerism and technology; the impacts of gentrification; to the abstract ideas of the self and relationships. Audiences are also encouraged to reflect upon the peculiar symbiotic connections between people, culture and place, through the artists&rsquo; unique interpretations of their personal encounters with different geographical locations. The screening will be followed by a discussion participated by artists Shir Handelsman, Sujin Lim, Chulayarnnon Siriphol and Gianluca Abbate, as well as curators Jaxton Su and Nien-Ting Chen.

Down the Melting Pot

See the world through the eyes of a blind woman, take a walk in the shoes of a wheelchair user, and learn how disability brings new perspectives to artmaking in &ldquo;Perspectives&rdquo;, a disability-led film directed by Peggy Ferroa and Michael Chua. Part documentary, part theatrical monologue, &ldquo;Perspectives&rdquo; is an independent project which explores the lives of Singaporeans with disabilities, told through music, monologues and works of art. It also features soundscapes by the Harmony Community Choir, a choir that primarily consists of young adult choral singers with autism and other learning disabilities. The stories by Lim Lee Lee, Victor Tan, and Stephanie Esther Fam are bound to cast a stark light on the community&#039;s unseen challenges, unheard voices, and unspoken desires. The docudrama screening will be followed by a discussion featuring the performers and the director Peggy Ferroa.

Perspectives

Currently residing in three separate countries, three local musicians will be brought together virtually to take audiences on a deeper dive into the different styles and periods of the Chinese orchestra music in &ldquo;Immerse&rdquo;. In this online concert, musicians Chow Jun Yi (New York, United States), Tan Yong Yaw (Malacca, Malaysia), and Raymond Choo Boon Yew (Macau, China) &ndash; who studied traditional Chinese instruments and music in mainland China &ndash; will take audiences on an unforgettable musical journey which is segmented into three parts: the traditional music repertoires that reflect the heritage and history of the Chinese; contemporary works which seek the power of immersion in the future time and space; and works which trigger deep thinking on multiculturalism and Chinese music culture in Malaysia while they are away from home. After all, it is through the accumulation of knowledge and real-life insights that enables people to re-recognise the past, the present, and the future.

Yarub Smarait&rsquo;s career as a violinist has taken him all over the world, putting him at the forefront of new generation musicians emerging from the Arab region. Musicians from many different backgrounds seek to work with Yarub for his distinctive taste and approach, as his vision in the arts always goes beyond classical clich&eacute;s. Inspired by folkloric fusions, Yarub&rsquo;s music radiates with international appeal that transcends all languages, easing complex compositions so smoothly to the ear. He doesn&rsquo;t shy away from breaking the rules, always resulting with sounds so utterly unique to his musicianship.

《來往》多媒體迷你音樂會由《憶初見》、《此刻的幻象》兩個作品組成。 「來往」二字意味著靈魂入世、去世的人世旅程，人身艱難奮鬥，對靈魂來說卻是來往一趟的暫時居留而已。 《憶初見》則用鋼琴低音敲擊模仿心跳，代表著初心，與初見的心情。與影像搭配，經過激昂與黑暗，最後將情感達成昇華。《此刻的幻象》明白地以六個段落，讓隱藏不可見的鋼琴彈奏者，與舞者、影像、電子聲響搭配，描述靈魂的人身之旅。 
 
&ldquo;Come and Go&rdquo; multimedia mini concert is build from two pieces. &ldquo;Recolleting The First Time Enconter&rdquo; and &ldquo;Illustration In This Moment.&rdquo; &ldquo;Come and Go&rdquo; means even it is tough for a human in his/her whole life, it is just &ldquo;in and out&rdquo; for a soul&rsquo;s journey in his/her human form. A temporary stay. There are low section notes of piano to imitate heart beats in &ldquo;Recolleting The First Time Enconter.&rdquo; They speak about the emotion of the first time encounter of someone, too. With video, the emotion becomes passionate, and dark, then sublimating finally. &ldquo;Illustration In This Moment&rdquo; goes with six section. A dancer, electronic acoustic music, video and an invisible piano player describes a human journey of a soul.

何侊倢《來往》多媒體迷你音樂會

In C , 建構於1960年代的極簡主義音樂，該曲目由54個各自獨立的片段所組成，在每個片段的交錯下，各聲部或節奏之間的融合產生彼此間的和諧或衝突，產生不同的時間差卻又平衡著不同的拍點與弦律間的對話。 
 
The piece begins on a C major chord (patterns one through seven) with a strong emphasis on the mediant E and the entrance of the note F which begins a series of slow progressions to other chords suggesting a few subtle and ambiguous changes of key, the last pattern being an alternation between B♭ and G. Though the polyphonic interplay of the various patterns against each other and themselves at different rhythmic displacements is of primary interest, the piece may be considered heterophonic.

擷取《春閨夢》選段，一對剛新婚的夫妻，丈夫王恢被強徵參軍，張氏在家終日盼著丈夫歸來，不覺積思成夢，穿插《詩經》篇幅作為轉折，襯托張氏在現實與夢境轉換。 
 
本節目於2022年受邀於全州國際藝術節首演。 
 
Falling into Dreams is an excerpt from &ldquo;A Young Wife&rsquo;s Dream,&rdquo; a classic piece of Chinese opera. The play tells a story about a young man called WANG Hui, who is forced to join the army shortly marrying ZHANG. The newly-married wife waits bitterly for her husband to return but is disappointed day after day. The utter despair turns into dreams. Passages from &ldquo;The Book of Poetry&rdquo; interweave throughout the play to depict ZHANG&rsquo;s wandering between dream and reality. 
 
This program is invited to premiere at the Jeonju International Sori Festival in 2022.

一齣演繹原住民少女莎韻的跨時空奇幻故事，在殘破與被政治扭曲的故事背後，存有太多的想像。《追》，用最新的互動多媒體技術，加入當代肢體詮釋。由藝術總監陳郁秀號召，率黃心健、AKIBO、音樂總監盧佳慧、導演及編舞家謝杰樺、林立川、當若科技藝術、誠品表演廳等陣容，共同合作。以「尋」、「迷」、「殉」三段故事構成，描述不同世代的逃避和追尋，於花花世界中的迷惘和追逐，真實和虛幻的游移，交織成魔幻境界。720度旋轉飛翔VR定位，3D即時動態捕捉系統感應高空懸吊，讓舞者跳脫舞台空間與框架，絢麗色彩極具張力，驚豔觀眾，創新感官體驗！ 
 
 
This is a fantasy based on the story of a young indigenous girl named Sayion that crosses time and space. Behind the political distortion of this tale exists imagination. Sayion II makes use of the latest interactive new media technologies, in addition to interpretation through contemporary body movement. Artistic director Yu-Chiou Tchen called on Hsin-Chien Huang, AKIBO (Kaohsiung World Games designer), Music Director and Composer Chia-Hui Lu, director and choreographer Jeff Hsieh (one of the directors of the Taipei Summer Universiade), Li-Chuan Lin, IF+ and Eslite Performance Hall to collaborate on this production. 
 
It is comprised of three acts, Search, Obsession and Death, to describe the fleeing and searching of various generations. Lost in a maze and in pursuit amid a varicolored world, reality and fantasy shift and interweave to create a magical realm. With 720-degree VR positioning and 3D real-time motion capture system responding to suspension equipment, dancers break free from the spatial limitations and frame of the stage. Brilliant colors captivate the audience, creating a unique sensory experience!
