JO KUKATHAS
Jo Kukathas, the API, and DDs Fellow is a national thespian and the co-founder of The Instant Café Theatre Company. Starting in 1989 she is a pioneer within the early emerging comedy scene in Malaysia. Jo Kukathas is namely recognized for her biting political satire. Her work explores issues of race, religion, politics, and many more.
Aside from touring her works internationally, Jo Kukathas has also managed to produce festivals, stage productions, and run workshops whilst simultaneously giving back and running her own art spaces for other likeminded individuals. Rooted in her dream of a more understanding Malaysia, Jo Kukathas believes humor and stories is one way to achieve this ideal.
So, here’s one of them:
CURRY SPICE
She’s the only member of her own girl band THE ASIAN SPICE GIRLS, she’s the star of KEEPING UP WITH THE KUMARASAMIS. She spent two weeks in London so she’s British and will tell you all about her time there.
But she’s back with a vengeance as she plans to be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia. That’s right, she’s the bi-sexual, bi-pedal, bi-nocular female powerhouse from Sentul: Curry Spice!

JOANNE KAM POH POH
Joanne Kam Poh Poh is once again gracing the stage, armed with her distinct style of risqué, acid tongued humor. Malaysia’s Queen of Comedy is coming up to 30 years of experience in the business and she’s stronger than ever. She commands the stage with “the moxie of someone who’s eternally skulling Red Bulls”.
Joanne has also gone global, bringing her comedy stylings to both Perth, and the Adelaide Fringe with her one woman show “Laugh You Long Time.” This was followed the year after with her hosting the prestigious Comedy Zone Asia at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
BIBI Kay POH
Bibi Kay Poh is Malaysia’s top comedy diva, with a career spanning almost 20 years in the entertainment industry. Her style of comedy ranges the entire comedy spectrum with zany one-liners to suggestive punchlines; so maybe leave the kids at home! Not only is she funny and beautiful, but her melodic voice allows this chameleon to both make us laugh until our cheeks hurt but also pull at our heartstrings. An all-round entertainer, Bibi’s audience interaction ability will make any audience become her new BFF during any show.
STEVEN BONES EVERYTHING
Steven Bones is the foremost voice acrobat and parody king of Malaysia. His parody videos of “Mamak King” earned him his viral status, this was followed up with his dubbing of Disney’s ‘Mulan’ into ‘Si Milan’ earning him another feather in his cap. His parodies have a way of touching the nation with their accurate and yet subtle way of bringing to light the plight of his fellow Malaysians through comedy.
STEVEN BONES is also an accomplished singer, and his voice is a true Swiss army knife with his range. In 2020 Steven even lent his voice as the main character Zuke in Malaysia’s very own video game: No Straight Roads.
