In June 2024, the award-winning Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra will finally embark on our long-awaited grand concert tour. We have been invited to perform at the prestigious Bachfest Leipzig in Germany, where Bach authorities and enthusiasts around the world gather annually to celebrate the greatest musician ever lived. World-renowned artists who have been featured in this festival include Lang-Lang, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, Ton Koopman, Angela Hewitt, Masaaki Suzuki, Daniel Hope, and Albrecht Meyer, among many others.
Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra will be the first ever Malaysian ensemble to be performing at the iconic St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where Bach worked and lived during the last 27 years of his life. In addition, we will also perform at the St. George’s Church in Eisenach, where Bach was born, baptized, and served as a choir boy, as well as Bach Church in Arnstadt, where he held his first professional position.
This grand concert tour is not only for us to represent Malaysia on such prestigious world stages, but it is also a very unique learning opportunity for us to expand our horizons through attending concerts performed by world-class musicians, as well as visiting museums and institutions, so that our members would return inspired and ready to serve our country better. There is no other festival in the world which would gather so many reputable and enthusiastic “Bachians”, and therefore this tour is also an important networking opportunity for us.
We are diligently raising funds for this very special tour, and would like to invite you to be part of this historical chapter of Bachfest Malaysia by contributing financially.

About Bachfest Malaysia
Bachfest Malaysia was founded by Artistic Director David Chin in 2015. Its inaugural performance was the Malaysian premiere of St. John Passion by the Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra. Since then, they have performed Mass in B minor, St. Matthew Passion, numerous cantatas, motets, and instrumental works by J.S. Bach. They have performed in major cities throughout Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur, Muar, George Town, Sibu, Bintulu, and Kota Kinabalu. Their performances of Bach's music have been repeatedly recognized at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, winning "Best of 2019" and "Best Choral Ensemble Performance" for St. Matthew Passion in 2020, and "Best Ensemble Performance" for "Prelude" from Orchestral Suite in C in 2019. That same year, David Chin's performance of Bach's Harpsichord Concerto in D major also received "Best Solo Instrumental Performance”.
