"Appa, can you tell me a story?
Sure kanna, what kind of story do you want me to tell?
One where they all die at the end,"

They All Die At The End is a brown boy fantasia that tells the story of love, family and identity. What does it mean to be a Malaysian Indian man in 2024? What did it mean to be one in the past? What does it mean to love, to exist and to live as a brown man?

Combining poetic text, dialogue, music and movement, the show explores painful realities and joy-filled spaces. The devised production presents a world where brown men can be who they want to be and say what they want to say.

Originally presented in May 2023 in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), They All Die At The End premiered to sold out shows and was one of CloudJoi’s Top 10 Best Selling Shows of 2023.

Company Bio

Theatresauce is a director and creation driven collective founded in 2016 by Kelvin Wong. The company has undergone various artistic trajectories and embraced various theatre-making forms, from back-to-back productions of well-made plays to entire seasons dedicated to devised and experimental work. Through it all, the commitment has always been to draw from and represent the experiences and stories of urban Malaysians.

Today, led by new Artistic Director Dhinesha Karthigesu, the company is focused on championing new and original (minority) Malaysian stories in theatre and on stage. Theatresauce aims to centre and hold space for narratives, identities and bodies that are underrepresented in the media landspace. Stories that are intersectional and go beyond the typical binaries of race, gender, sexualities and backgrounds. The company believes and stands by the idea that theatre is culture making and this informs all the choices made.
